Artistry in some form has always been a hobby for Sugar. She has worked in several types of mediums such as charcoal, pencil, pen and ink, jewelry forging, ceramics, and sculpting. Eventually, she branched into oils and fell in love with the application. This led to crafting more multi-media pieces.

In October 2007, Sugar became a Roller Derby Girl which allowed her to utilize her artistic experience through fashion and make up artistry as she searched for a way to intensify her derby persona. It also introduced her to Porch; who, through a mutual friend’s request of a photo shoot, borne Sugar~Moon photography. With her successful completion of cosmetology school and her artistic vision, the marriage of technical expertise and beauty is a perfect marriage.

Sugar enjoys taking people out of their comfort zone for photo shoots. She likes to take Librarians and make them look like a dominatrix, or taking tom boys and making them look link innocent candy stripers. She believes that the Sugar~Moon experience should be about freeing the spirit and becoming liberated, to live life to the fullest and experience new and different things.
This is the Sugar side of sugar-moon.

Having always been interest in the mixture of art and technology, Porchmoon started at an early age teaching himself the various aspects and how to manipulate everything from sketches to entire multimedia processing. His biggest attraction always came back to Graphic Design, so he obtained an Associates Degree in Computer Science, majoring in Graphic Design and receiving the top of his class honor.

Porchmoon became involved with the Fort Wayne Derby Girls early on and took on the task of website development and other various graphic design projects. He met Sugarguns when she joined the league in 2007 and since both were interested in photography and art, a friendship was formed. After being approached by a Fort Wayne Derby Girl to do a photo shoot as a gift for her husband, Porchmoon asked Sugarguns to assist with hair/makeup and overall effect. Thus was born sugar-moon.
